To get from Barcelona to Salou on your own inexpensively, you can take a bus. It takes about 2 hours to get from one resort to another (sometimes you have to wait another 40-60 minutes for the bus to leave).

Transportation is carried out by a local company Bus Plana. The buses are easy to recognize: they are white, with a large “Plana” inscription along the side.

Bus times:

  • from Barcelona: from 07:15 to 23:15
  • From Salou: 03:20 to 19:40

Check the actual bus timetable for Barcelona-Salou on the company’s official website (timetable may change depending on the season).

You can buy a ticket from the driver, kiosks at stops or on the website of the carrier. The cost of the ticket is 14.95 euros (this also includes the price of luggage). Round trip fare is 27 Euros.

Please note: Salou is neither the final nor the starting stop on this route. Many buses go from / to Granadella, Cambrils or other Spanish cities, passing through Salou.

In Barcelona, you can catch a bus at several stops:

  • Passeig de Gracia, 36 – the stop is located next to the metro station of the same name
  • Passeig de Gracia, 104-106, at the intersection of Calle Rossello and Passeig de Gracia, accessible from the Avinguda Diagonal Metro Station.
  • 596 Avinguda Diagonal, near the Diagonal-Francesc Macia stop
  • Avinguda Diagonal, 670-672 – at the exit of the Maria Cristina Metro Station
  • Avinguda Diagonal, 686 – next to Palau Real Metro station.

When traveling from Barcelona to Salou (and vice versa), buses stop in several major cities: Tarragona and La Pineda. Just after Salou, there is a stop at Parc Aventura and many take the bus there.

Train

The cheapest way to get between Salou and Barcelona is by train.

You can take regular R.Express trains or the high-speed Talgo trains. In Barcelona they leave from the Sants station in the city center.

The R.Express trains run from 05:46 to 20:46 at variable intervals and can take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Second class ticket costs from 8 euros, first class – about 20 euros.

The best way to get from Barcelona to Salou is by high speed train – it takes about 70 to 75 minutes. The trains run from 09:32 to 19:28 at intervals of 1-2.5 hours. Stops in Barcelona are Passeig de Gracia and Estacio de Franca. High-speed train ticket costs 13,9-19,9 euros, depending on the class of the carriage.

In Salou the trains leave from the central station Estacio del Carrilet. R.Express trains to Barcelona depart from 06:57 to 22:56, high-speed Talgo trains from 12:28 to 22:58. Ticket intervals and prices are the same.

How to get from Barcelona Airport to Salou

Salou can be reached directly from Barcelona airport only by bus (from 15 euros) or by cab (from 150 euros). If you take a train or train, you have to get from the airport to the center of Barcelona and then change at the Sants train station.
