Trains are not the cheapest option to travel between German cities. The price of a Berlin-Munich train ticket in 2022 on a direct high-speed train is a minimum of €51.90 (night)/69.90 (day). The average cost is between 67.90 and 95.90 euros.

Ticket sales begin 92 days before the expected date of travel. The earlier you buy the ticket, the cheaper it is. The Saving Fares promotion also allows you to save money. The cost depends on the type of train, departure time and class of carriage.

Important addendum: In the fall of 2016, the high-speed rail line between Berlin and Munich was completed with Intercity-Express (ICE) high-speed trains. The travel time will be only 4 hours. Bus Berlin – Munich

A much more cost-effective way to get to Munich is by bus.

There are plenty of bus carriers, so there should be no problems with free seats. A fairly cheap tickets are offered by the bus company Flixbus. The price of bus tickets Berlin – Munich in 2022 starts at 16 euros. The cost depends on the route (direct, with change), departure time, travel time.

Planes Berlin-Munich

Flights between the cities are primarily operated by Air Berlin. Lufthansa is based in Munich. The flight takes 1 hour 15 minutes, there are a lot of flights. You can find the ticket from 100 euros, depending on the date of departure (average price – 130 euros).

This is the fastest way to get to Munich. Take into account that the direction is popular, and on some days it is not easy to buy a ticket before landing (many people from Munich work in Berlin and fly to work in the morning).
