Legend has it that by the rock on which the Grand Hotel Minareto stands, the invasion of the Roman fleet into Syracuse’s main port was repulsed. It was at this point, where the Red Lighthouse now stands, that the famous scientist Archimedes placed mirrors with which he set fire to the wooden ships of the Romans in order to defend Syracuse against the blockade of Marco Claudio Marcello. “Lobby bar”, is located in the luxurious lobby of the hotel. It is an ideal meeting place for cocktails and aperitifs. “Grill Bar”, decorated in Sicilian style.
