Paris airport: how to get there and back

Paris airport: transfers to and from Paris

Airports Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly, where most airliners arrive, are located respectively 25 and 14 kilometers from Paris. If you are traveling to Paris from one of the cities in Europe on a low-cost airline such as Ryanair or Wizz Air, you are likely to arrive at Beauvais airport. It is more than 70 km from the center of the French capital.

Charles de Gaulle facilitates the movement of more than 150,000 travelers every day, and the figure is off the charts in the tens of millions a year.

How to get there:

From Charle de Gaulle

Located 25 km northeast of the capital, Charles-de-Gaulle takes the brunt of the passenger traffic with its major international airlines: XL Airways France, Blue Line, Delta Air Lines from America and the FedEx Express freighter.

By train from Charles-de-Gaulle to Paris

The most convenient and fastest way to get to Paris from Charles de Gaulle airport is to take the RER train. RER stations are located at Terminals 2, 3 and Roissypole, where the airport office buildings are located. Trains go to Paris from 04:56 to 23:40 every 12 minutes. Tickets cost from 9.75 euros (720 rubles), and can be purchased at RER stations at ticket booths or vending machines marked “Billets Paris Ile-de-France”. It takes about half an hour to get to the center. On the way the train makes several stops, where you can change to the subway.

Bus from Charles-de-Gaulle to Paris

Buses run between the airport and downtown Paris from 06:00 to 23:00. The trip usually takes about 50 minutes. From the stops at the terminals T1 and T2 depart Roissy buses every 15 minutes. Their terminus is at the Opera House in the city center. The fare varies from 11 Euros (800 rubles). Buses leave from Terminal 1 – (exit 8); 2 (A and C) – (exit A9); 2D – (exit B11); 2 (E and F) – (exit 5); 3 – (at the exit from the arrival hall). The cheapest local bus is the low-cost Easybus – its tickets sell for only 2 euros, and you can buy them online at the official website, too, and explore the route of the cars.

By cab from Charles de Gaulle to Paris

Getting to the center of Paris by cab is expensive – on average, 55 to 60 euros (4,500 rubles). Evening, Sunday and holiday fares are higher by 15-20%. The night tariff is valid from 19:00 to 7:00 if you need to get to the suburbs, and from 17:00 to 10:00 if your way lies in the center of the capital. Cabs are waiting for passengers at the exit of baggage claim areas. Note that Parisian streets are often jammed with traffic jams. In this case, the counter in the cab continues to work, and by the end of the trip you have to pay a lot more than you bargained for. At the airport there are official representatives of companies from which you can order a car:

  • Alpha Taxis (telephone: 01 45 85 85 85)
  • Les Taxis Bleus (telephone: 01 41 52 54 25)
  • Taxis G7 (telephone: 01 47 39 39/36 07)
