Trip to Hungary was from 12/27/2021 to 1/13/2022 (departed at 5:55am). Adults were vaccinated with Sputnik V, the child (8 years old) had a PRC test. I read that it is not necessary on the flight to Budapest, but I wanted to be on the safe side. When coming back to Russia the child needs a PRC test and uploaded to the Gosuslug website. Vaccinated adults do not need a PRC test, the vaccination results are automatically uploaded. On the Budapest-Moscow flight, we filled out the questionnaires on the plane and gave them to the staff at Vnukovo. Those who did not fill in the questionnaire were filled out right there in Vnukovo (before getting the luggage). The flight was operated by Wizz air. I booked my flight Moscow-Budapest at the check-in counter at Vnukovo airport, Budapest-Moscow in Wizz application on my cell phone. The boarding cards were generated in the Wizz app and then I presented my phone or phone+passports. At security check one of the airport staff in Budapest was Russian speaking, on the plane the Russian speaking stewardess was scary. Passport controls went through without any problems. When we arrived in Budapest, we all had to show our passport and vaccination certificate. Vaccination certificates together with our passports were required whenever we went to fairs in Budapest (there were several fairs before New Year’s Eve). Indeed, the local law enforcement officers checked the number of the passport against the number on the certificate. Outside of the fairs in Budapest, no one asked us for our vaccination certificates.

An undeniable plus when choosing as a New Year’s destination Hungary is the New Year’s atmosphere. Decorated streets, trees, Christmas trees, in churches, there are fairs with mulled wine and other drinks for children hot chocolate, artificial ice rinks are poured. It gets dark from 16 o’clock at 17 o’clock and the light goes on, which suits the Hungarian cities very well. The weather was nice. It rained a couple of times. The rest of the time sunny, in the temperature range during the day +8 -4.

I want to note one negative thing. In Hungary there was a full-scale repair and if we were ready for some repair-construction works, in particular I knew that the Opera is under repair which is reported on its site, but to the moving of the Ethnographic Museum (of course with a complete closure of the exposition in a beautiful museum building near the Parliament) life did not prepare me. This factor of unexpectedness, to my regret, “popped up” more than once. For example, we went to a restaurant (not planned, just to eat), but it turned out that from 15 to 18 it was closed. And the clock is 17:20. In general, wherever you are going in Hungary, be sure to check the site of the institution. Before Hungary, I had no experience to check every time all the institutions, plus we seem to walk, not follow some program planned by the minute. But even if you’ve checked everything, it’s not at all certain that it will be open. I do not know if they are always like this or only in winter.

From the airport to the city of Budapest you can take the 100 E bus, 200 E bus, cab. We chose the 100 E. The bus takes passengers from the airport to downtown Budapest, stopping at the subway stations: Kálvin Tér, Astoria, Deák Ferenc tér. I was interested in the last station, Deák Ferenc tér. It’s a central station where you can get on the red, yellow and blue lines (much of the blue line is under repair, buses replace it). I was interested in the yellow branch because I was booked Benczur Hotel to which the nearest metro station is Bajza utca (Bajza street). The logic of the subway is about as we have, i.e. intuitive, especially for residents of St. Petersburg. Practically a radial system without roundabouts, centers and others. Some forints I bought in Moscow, in an exchange office at Nikolskaya, understanding that in the extreme case I could buy a bus ticket from the driver for forints. The last resort didn’t happen. After the luggage controls, we go into the arrival hall and turn left, there are a lot of “kiosks” offering to take the kovid test, cab, etc. Looking for VKK – that’s Budapest transport. Here you can buy a bus ticket and other transportation options. I bought 3 tickets for 100 E for 900 forints each and 10 transport tickets. One ticket is one trip. They are valid in the subway, streetcars, buses and trolleybuses in Budapest. About the river streetcar do not know, not interested. You have to pay by card. Then go out of the airport and again on the left buses can be seen. The ticket control is before you enter the bus. Unknowingly decided that the two aunties at the first door of the bus are just standing there.

Neighborhood development near Bajza utca (Bajza street) – mansions, mostly not more than 3 – x floors including the embassy, in particular at this metro station is the Russian embassy. Nearby is the Heroes’ Square (Hősök tere), the Mücsarnok Exhibition Center, the Museum of Fine Arts, Varoshliget Park with the Széchenyi fürdő baths, Vaidahunyad Castle and the Budapest Zoo. The yellow metro line (M1) runs almost entirely under Andrassy Avenue and is a historical metro line with the official name Földalatti. The Yellow Line was opened in 1896. Today, the stations are tiled and wooden in the same style and have the same small yellow subway cars. So you have to enter the subway from a certain side of the avenue, depending on the direction of travel.

Hello! As far as I understand, the check in is free in Moscow at the check in desk? That means I don’t need to check in as an app when flying to Budapest? Everything is clear to me with the return flight. Does it work without problems when I check in? It is just my first time flying with this airline, so I want to know all the details in practice. ) Thanks!

No. Most likely the hotels are aware that it is difficult for unvaccinated tourists to enter Hungary.

If you are departing from Moscow, that is correct. You can check in at the check-in counter. Here is the second tab https://wizzair.com/ru-ru/informatsiya- . -i-posadka “The online check-in service is not available for the following airports. ”

Nataliya-moskva wrote (a) 18 Jan 2022, 17:33: Everything is clear to me with the return flight. The app works smoothly when you check back in?

The question is an interesting one. The registration process itself worked smoothly. But to register you need to know the reservation code. This is quite strange, but from the phone I could not go to my personal account on the Wizz website to this very code “wrong username/password” But from the computer in Russia, my sister with these here is the wrong username/password went to my personal account. Otherwise we would have lost money. In general, the printout of the reservation is still the most reliable. If you need to check in more than one passenger, but go through the registration for each. If your passport is 10 years old, you have to scan the passport page with your phone up close to the page. The usual scanner option does not work, indicates – passport not scanned. This is all in Russian indicated in the application. At the end there is a boarding with a barcode on the phone monitor.
